Who we are

Valténesi

Located on the hills of morainic origin on the western shore of Lake Garda, it extends over an area of 14 municipalities, between Desenzano and Salò. This Mediterranean between the Alps has a mild climate, mitigated by the proximity to the lake, with mild winters and temperate summers, characterized by cool nights, light breezes and sunny mornings. The particular microclimate allows the growth of lush vegetation, with vines and olive trees, but also citrus plants and capers, and gives the wines great finesse and elegance.

Groppello

The native Valtènesi vine is an extraordinarily refined and at the same time fragile grape. It owes its name to the compact shape of its bunch, similar to a knot, in dialect "groppo", with grapes with a blue and very thin skin. Not very resistant to the cold, it found its ideal location on the shores of Lake Garda where it has been cultivated since around 1250, in the variations of Groppello Gentile and Mocasina. Due to its characteristics it is particularly suitable for red and rose winemaking.

Rosé wine

Groppello, due to its fineness, is ideal for rosé winemaking. Together with barbera, sangiovese and marzemino, it is used to produce Valtenèsi Chiaretto, an emerging denomination on the Italian scene. This vocation dates back to the end of the nineteenth century with Pompeo Molmenti. Valtènesi is comparable to French excellences such as Provence and Côtes du Rhône. Valtènesi rosés are characterized by a light pink color, floral and fruity aromas. On the palate they are fresh, with good acidity and a savory and mineral finish.
